Wow , i really like meeting smart people online, thanks for this bro! Im a craps-a-hollic and love this stuff....... WOW, i hope i didnt offend you by saying your smart, your a genius bro!

With regards to the pronunciation of the l in calm or palm, it's an English thing, not a posh thing. To me, you pronouncing the L makes you sound really foreign, like you've only just learned the language. Like someone asking for cutlery at a restaurant but they don't know the K is silent and ask for a "kunife and fork". As you've just noted, the way I talk is really odd to your ear (or mental ear, given you are reading it?).
Oh and about the fonts and/or writing systems I'd go for? I always thought Cyrillic would look really good in this embossed style. Which leads back to the problem of "they don't talk proper like wot we duz": sir-ILL-ik, or KIR-ill-is? Neither are a perfect approximation of Кириллица.
The Latin alphabet is weird. Oh, R and r are the same letter? Despite looking nothing alike? Localised entirely within your kitchen?
First time hearing the word affordance. Thanks!
This was cool I just would of put super thin layers of wood over the disk & instead of going 1, 2, 3, 4,… I would of randomly picked an order
It sounds like a rattlesnake. The sound of "you're in danger!" Perfect for an RNG scenario 😅
I love projects like this. They start with just a question or curiosity and then morph and materialize out of thin air. No one asked for this specific thing. Not even you. And yet, now it exists, and it's AWESOME. Love it.
awesome video- this is going into my mental grab-bag of projects I will always want to do, but likely never will.
100 rolls is a tiny drop in the bucket of a "true" test. but no one ever has time for that :p I do wonder what sort of non-random weight the a) arranging the numbers 0-9 in order caused (since there's a non-random distribution of "change polarity" and "keep polarity" interactions. and b) its been shown that repeated human inducted motion (spin the wheel or Roll the dice) has it's own measurable bias. In all likelihood, those (and whatever other environmental and manufacturing factors) probably don't mess with things enough to care about in real use, but it'd be interesting to see how many decimal places you have to go out before you can see the effect they have.
awesome!
Looks great! Just a thought, if you do a multiple dice version, you don’t need every combination shown. You just need to show the total, and have it have the same likely hood of showing up. For example, if you do a 2d6 version, you can have a 7 show up, and weight the week to give it a 1/6 chance of appearing
Loved it, keep going :)
Kudos maker, solving problems no one else thought of. I am in awe!
Very interesting video, also, your delivery was oddly different and satisfying. Cool...!
i love dice
20:00, fish... I wanna die
The digits do not need to be ordered by value. You can order them to minimize the number of flipped segmenrs between two digits, and have less magnets on the disk. As disk always rotates sequentially, one revolution will reset it to a known state, and then each position needs to encode differences.
Ah, too late :) But im glad others think in this direction too.
Shut up and take my money!
I love it! I have a thought for how to make it easier to remove inverted magnets: first drill through-holes at all the right index positions, between half to 3/4 of the clearance hole diameter. Then have a drill press with the clearance hole bit & a depth stop. The larger bit should naturally center on the pilot holes well enough; start with a depth too shallow & "sneak up to" the depth where the magnets are flush to the surface. Now if a magnet is backwards, you should be able to knock it out with a punch from the back side pretty easily, especially with a glue that takes 24 hours for "full cure." I'm a mechanical engineer with above-average manual machine shop experience 😉
Put everyone on gmt. At first it would be weird to work from 22-6 or whatever but the numbers are already arbitrary and nonsensical.
This sort of clock has always intrigued me. I worked at The Nature Company in the South Coast Plaza Mall, Costa Mesa, California in the 90's. We had a 4' version of this clock on display. I think we sold them for $3500, or something like that.
That sounds so satisfying
Why anyone else would want them? They doubtless wear out or stick or fade in the sun and need to be replaced from time to time.
can you add a link for those displays... i cant find them anywhere online. even ebay. i wanna make my own
Here’s a space saving idea: italics. That’s right, put them diagonally to reduce their vertical footprint.
Burning the glue out might be easier than drilling. You can use potatoes as heat sinks. Pruno

my wall needs one.....
today is june 63 no 112 no 95 or 187
standard deviation for 10 dice thrown is the same for 1 die thrown 10 times repeatedly, save money on 9 dice...... (* for a perfectly balanced die)
People would definitely throw money at this for gaming 100 percent, not a doubt in my mind
Yeah definitely cant weld aluminum
That is a rather nice build and I liked the video so much that I subscribed. Quick question for Attoparsec (or anyone else who may have the urge and knowledge to answer): Are you a math nerd as well? I ask because I'm not and long ago I stumbled over a game that does something different with rolling multiple dice and wanted to figure out the probability of rolls but I couldn't work it out. In essence, you roll however many dice you're allowed BUT you only get to keep the highest roll. HOWEVER, if you have dice roll the max they can, you reroll that dice and add it to the max. So, in 4D6, if you roll a 2, 3, 3, and 6, you reroll the 6 and get a 3, so you add that to get 9. On the charts I was making, you obviously can't get any roll of the max (nor multiples of the max) and worse, the more dice you add, the higher chances of that bump in final roll. I say worse because the extra dice threw off my attempts to figure out a formula for number probability. Anyway, great work and I hope your next attempt is even more impressive. I'd suggest something with brass so you can stain it to look antique "steampunk."
I kind of imagine the spinning cylinder to look like the spinning pillars scene in The Golden Child movie. "I-I-uh-I-uh-I-uh-I-uh want a random numberrrrrr"
I play a lot of ttrpgs and I akways use the average value for dice in calculations.
Awesome! I made (since not commercially available anymore) my own #MartianDice game, but always wondered how off of a uniform distribution these things are, you wouldn’t happen to be interested to build an automated Die roll and analysys setup to get an insane amount of data points?

What IRL need is there for a thumper, besides earth worm bait for fishing?
I was thinking that you were going to suggest one, consistent global time, not a continuously changing time. Technology has increased past trains to the point where people often hang out with people that are in completely diffferent parts of the world. Saying, "Okay, we'll meet up at 7 tomorrow," only to get the reply "My 7 or your 7?" is increasingly common. It's a challenge now with just 24 time zones, and would be atrocious if there were multiple time zones in every town. Can you imagine planning a Zoom call for the managers of a feanchised business? "We'll meet at 9:00 am Tuesday. That's 7:46 for you, 8:21 for you, 8:33 for you, 9:03 for my local branch, 9:24 for you..."
What is yellowing of the skin and eyes? Yellowing of the skin and eyes is described as when the skin, and whites around the eyes, turn a yellowish hue. In adults, the cause can be because of liver dysfunction, bile duct obstruction, or cholecystitis (inflammation of the gallbladder).
two 10 sided dices are way underrated for tabletop rpg's. you can scale most other dice combos to be presented by the 100 easy enough close enough and once in that it's easy to understand the probabilities involved as a novice player and you don't need a bunch of different sorts of dice to play.
I have a set of red D6's that were very consistent at low rolling, so consistent in fact that in DND I always had low stat characters to the point i even had an illegal character rolled up I can't remember the exact rules I think you needed at least 1 stat 14 or higher and an overall positive if you added up the modifiers
4:00 Paint the dark area of the display with the darkest paint in the world and make a video of the results please 🙏
You should have been able to melt the glue to get it out, lol.
The project was interesting enough to keep me watching and your delivery of the journey convinced me I should subscribe just to see what other kinda cool and neat stuff you come up with. Cheers from a fellow semi pro, ok honestly I should say terribly average or high functioning amateur, maker. 🤘🏻
